In 2018, CREATING CONNECTIONS THERAPY was opened to specialize in providing applied behavior analysis (ABA) in inclusive settings with peers, along a continuum of 1:1 to classroom instruction.
CCT provides intensive and effective behavioral therapy services in social settings; opposed to ABA services that are typically provided in clinical settings lacking peer models and interactions. This shift allows play, communication, and social skills to be learned and practiced in natural environments with peers.
Using a combination of direct instruction and naturalistic, play-based interventions, children from birth to age 6 will improve their language, play, social, and classroom-readiness skills.
OUR FOUNDERS
Michelle and Mary Beth first met when they worked as autism/behavior specialists in a local school district. After spending four years in this role, Mary Beth left to pursue her doctorate in Special Education at the University of Kansas and Michelle began working privately supporting clinics, schools, and families in the successful development of early intervention programs focused on social, communication, and school-readiness skills.
Creating Connections Therapy was conceptualized through a mutual committment to delivering evidence-based practices and interventions based in applied behavior analysis (ABA) in inclusive contexts with typically developing peers. While ABA-based interventions have been found to be effective for addressing the social, communicative, and behavioral skills of children with autism, research also suggests that inclusive settings with access to typically developing peers allows for increased development of social, play, and language skills, all of which are essential for school success.
